Si hemos migrado a Windows XP y no podemos o no queremos actualizar nuestros antiguos programas de sistemas operativos anteriores, podemos forzar la compatibilidad de dicho programa. ¿Como? Pues muy sencillo, pulsando con el botón derecho sobre el icono de la aplicación y seleccionando "Propiedades" y dentro de esta opción en la pestaña "Compatibilidad". Marcaremos la casilla "Ejecutar este programa en el modo de compatibilidad para:" y elegiremos el sistema operativo con el que queremos forzar la ejecución de este programa. Modo de compatibilidad. Opciones:
- Windows 95
- Windows 98 / Windows Me
- Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5)
- Windows 2000
También podemos "configurar la pantalla" a 256 colores , ejecutar la aplicación con una resolución de pantalla de 640 x 480 y deshabilitar los temas visuales.
También nos puede aparecer la posibilidad de "configuración de entrada", pidiendo desactivar servicios avanzados de texto para ese programa.
La ficha Compatibilidad sólo está disponible para programas instalados en el disco duro. Aunque puede ejecutar el Asistente para compatibilidad de programas en programas o archivos de instalación en un CD-ROM o disquete, los cambios no serán efectivos hasta que cierre el programa.
